Sheer survival is the condition, in that respect single-cell bacteria may be the peak of evolution.The more complex an organism is, the more easily mutation breaks it. There are many single celled bacteria who mutate and evolve at lighting-fast rates compared to mammals, some even break their own gene repairing processes when the conditions require it.
How about electronics? They tell me it's changed the world several times over...

It's classic American smart-ass college-boy humor in a long tradition. The National Lampoon, Mad Magazine (so ground-breaking in the Kurtzman days), SNL guys like Bill Murray and Chevy Chase, Matt Groening, etc. Maybe you could include some of Robert Crumb's stuff.If you compare it to British parody and ironic humor, it's less absurd and crazy, less concerned with class, but more pessimistic and depressing. Though the British like to say the Americans don't do irony, really it is purer irony than say Monty Python. I guess it's a reaction to that very sunny, "American Dream", "have a great day" kind of attitude.

Sex education and birth control are the proven best ways to prevent the unwanted pregnancies that result most often in abortions. Anyone who claims to be pro-life, but does not advocate sex education and birth control... is less interested in preventing fetal/infant deaths than enforcing puritanical control of our sex lives. In other words, they want to save babies, but not if it means people can enjoy sex without procreating.
