I have been saying they should do this for half a decade.They would get a nicer core to their OS. They could ditch their disproved security model and give up modding it into one that works. Go look at the number and size of the current botnets, worms, and virus infections that are spreading.Other operating systems have a Unix or Unix-like core now. Apple and Linux have proven that Unix-like operating systems can work out fine in the home and the office - and schools & labs too.Windows and the original Mac OS X were designed decades ago. It was a different time. They both had some goofy stuff in them. Windows still has a lot of the thinking from that era. Apple stripped the last of their 1980's and 1990's era original Mac OS code out years ago.No commercial company or open source company has been able to wrest control of Windows PCs from malware authors and get it back firmly in the hands of users. Better to drastically change the platform than let malware crooks dramatically change its population.?
