I was in the decomposing lab of the Miami Medical Examiner once. It's where bodies go when the dead person isn't fresh (found hanging a week after death, etc.). The moment that you step in, the smell hits you like a wall. I have a strong stomach and had just come from an autopsy, and the smell had me fighting to keep my breakfast down for about 2 minutes. After that, I was fine, but my brain has completely blocked me from being able to compare it to anything else. I'm sure that I would know it if I smelled it, though.

Dammit. I don't know why this disappoints me so much but it does. I want to address, in particular, anyone in Maine who voted to kill this initiative. (If you know of any, steer 'em over here.)Truly, what about my gay friends scares you people so? They sure as hell don't scare me. I just... what the hell is the real issue here, that you'd consciously vote to deny a segment of the population a straightforward right? Now I've made my preferences known on this issue many times in this space --ideally I'd love to see the state butt the hell out of the marriage business ALTOGETHER, but since we're not there yet, what the hell is wrong with this little interim solution?
